Øyvind Økland

Professor in Pedagogy and Intercultural Communication at Volda University College. He has his Ph D in Intercultural Studies and Education from Trinity International University in the U.S.A. He has previously been teaching media and intercultural communication at NLA and University of Agder. His teaching interests are journalism education and intercultural communication, including immigration, social media and globalization related topics, especially related to youth culture.

Manisha Mishra
PhD candidate, UiA

Manisha Mishra is currently a PhD Research Fellow at the University of Agder. Her research focuses on highly mobile migrants and their sense of identity and belonging. Although she is currently working on a PhD in Sociology, Manisha has a background in media and communication studies, having previously completed a Bachelor’s degree and Master’s degree in Communication (at Manipal University, India). She also holds a second Master’s degree in Transcultural Studies from Heidelberg University, Germany. Manisha previously worked as an Assistant Professor of Journalism and Mass Communication (at Sikkim Manipal University, India). She has published articles on Japanese anime and Indian films and has also written on Iranian new wave cinema. Her interests lie primarily in animation, film and television studies, intercultural communication, international communication, and transcultural studies. 

Basilio Monteiro
Associate Professor in mass communication, St. Johns Univeristy, NY.

Associate Professor in the Department of Mass Communication, Director of the Institute for International Communication, and Chair of the Division of Mass Communication at St. John’s University, NY. His specialization is in the area of International Communication and Social Anthropology of Communication, and teaches Communication and Global Development, Media and Public Policy, Media and the Politics of Peacebuilding, Media and Human Rights, Media and Public Diplomacy, Ethics in Digital Ecology among other related subjects. His area of research, besides his academic area, covers ICT and the internationalization of human rights, education and social justice, social media in conflict zones, media and sustainable development goals, communication and theology, education in globalized economy, the role of humanities in information/knowledge economy. He is Holy See Mission Expert at the United Nations, Scholar in Global Solidarity at  Catholic Relief Services, and Senior Fellow at the Center for Church and Society, St. John’s University, NY.
